Who am I to?

Who am I to write about spiritual topics? A question my mind has been serving up lately as I have broadened my reach and begun to share even more of my writing. Here’s my pro tip: any question that starts with “Who am I to” is a question that must be answered with “I am.”

Spirituality is a loaded word that carries meaning for each of us. Some see that word and cringe. Others see that word and light up. Still others hear that word and immediately associate it with what they were taught.

My own view is that spirituality is about your own relationship with your own spirit. It’s nothing more than that.

It’s a core fundamental relationship that each of us has, whether we realize it as a spiritual one, or not. My personal qualifications come from my decades of life, living with and getting to know who I truly am. I am a student of life, and I have learned how to connect with my own spirit to accomplish my life goals. I see this relationship as my most important one, as it’s literally my own self that I am seeking to express as. And that relationship, like all relationships, takes some tending.

Most of us ignore our own spirit and seek to change our external relationships and situations. Which, of course, is not a recipe for lasting change. What is a key to lasting change, happiness, and success is to cultivate a relationship with the true you. The spirit on the inside.

Most of us ignore our own spirit and seek to change our external relationships and situations. Which, of course, is not a recipe for lasting change.

That’s my work. That’s why I write. That’s the fundamental basis of everything I do: how can this help me better know and love myself? How does this essay help others do the same? How can I get the word out, to others, that a spirit-led life is fun?

Had that been an advert, I suppose I would have explored spirituality sooner.

What I seek to do is pass on this message: you are unconditionally loved. You are more awesome than you realize. Your spirit is your ally. You can do great things.

That’s foundationally what I believe, what I embody, and what I am here to teach.

I’ve learned a few tricks and I am ready to share. If you can swallow that all of us are spiritual beings, then I hope you agree that we are each experts in spirituality. We each have the potential to become experts in what it means to be ourselves. Our true selves.

My expertise, then, is wholly derivative of my own relationship to my soul. And yours is too.

Together, let’s find a better way to talk about spirituality. Let’s create a new, safe space where people can explore themselves as spirit. Let’s move forward together to create a community of like- minded people who all believe that our spirit is our greatest asset.
