Winning Together

Being generous with your time is one way to give to others. Being generous with the ideas you hold for others is yet another way. Being generous to yourself and others, at the same time, creates some real magic.

Holding a positive expectation of success, for another, is a gift. Holding a positive expectation of a joint success is an even greater gift. It says, not only do I want to accomplish my goals, but I want to achieve yours as well.

Here is what I mean: Holding a positive expectation of success, for another, is a gift. Holding a positive expectation of a joint success is an even greater gift. It says, not only do I want to accomplish my goals, but I want to achieve yours as well. Some people call this win-win. I see it as more than that. More like win-win squared. Where each of us succeeding causes the other person in the equation to succeed even more than they could have imagined alone.

We see this all the time in business world, where people and companies inspire each other to greater achievements. But I have found my greatest success by applying these intentions to my family:

  • I hope we both thrive and grow.
  • I hope we all succeed beyond our wildest imagination.
  • I hope we each uplevel our lives based on the successes of each other.

These ideas help me to move into a state of grateful appreciation for my family. A state where I see their hopes and dreams as pushing up my hopes and dreams, and vice versa. In this way, we all succeed more, as each individual succeeds.

Where in your life can you apply this idea? Where are you acting in lack, or limitation, as to success, and thus could move into a win-win squared mentality? Where could you use another’s success to leverage your own success?

Family dynamics aren’t always easy, but you are permitted to shift your perspective at any time. Try out these new ideas for everyone you love: Your good fortune opens the door for my good fortune to enter too. Your success portends my success. Your good nature allows me to find my good nature too, this holiday season.

Family dynamics aren’t always easy, but you are permitted to shift your perspective at any time.

As I prepare to gather with my family for Thanksgiving, I plan to celebrate each and every success I see as if it’s my own. Because it is, once you realize that we are all one.

Happy Thanksgiving!
