BEING PATIENT WITH LIFE
Feb 18, 2025Do you ever feel like life is taking too long to get you where you want to go? Do you feel like your goals are so so close, but just not here yet? Do you ever find that you get a little impatient with life?
When I find myself feeling impatient for the things I want in life, I have found a super effective trick to get my mind off the task of pining for what I want: I find a new project to sink my teeth into.
New projects, to me, are like shiny objects that I can’t wait to jump into. New projects, to me, feel like excitement and joy. New projects, to me, are the perfect antidote to impatience. And lucky for me, life seems to toss me new projects all the time, so all I have to do is look around and follow what excites me.
When you have a true want that you are allowing to come forward for the first time, there could be a delay between the unleashing of that desire and the fruition of that desire. That delay reflects your years of limiting beliefs and your habits of suppressing your want instead of celebrating it. The delay is a useful time to clear out those old beliefs and practice some new ideas.
But it also tends to breed a little impatience as you are ready for your desire to manifest, but you aren’t quite ready to wait for it. So, life does what it does best. It tosses you an event, or a situation, that distracts you until your true want has time to catch up with you.
If you are feeling impatient around your goals, here is my best advice. Look around and see what project you can dig into, even if it’s only for a few days. Examine your life and see where your interests are pulling you. Take a hard look at anything you once called a problem, or a negative life event, and see if you can reframe it into an opportunity.
When I do this, I often find myself with a new project. When I follow my excitement, I get pulled into a positive project that sets me up for success. When I make it a point to be present and aware, I see much in my life to distract me while I wait for my other desires to come to fruition.
Impatience isn’t a negative. It’s a signal that your attention is better placed on something else. Look around your life and see where you can grow something else that you want, while you wait for the next big thing to land.
